in 2012 this is what happened...

Barnas Fredsverden with the support of UD, Moss Kommune, Ungdommens FylkesrÃ¥d and the American College of Norway has organised in August 16th and 17th a PEACE seminar inviting 32 young people from the region to come and share 2 days of uplifting, interesting, fun activities around the theme of PEACE inviting different organisations like Amnesty international, Play for Peace, CISV Norway, Nansen Center for Dialogue and Peace, Play for Peace, HelloEarth to give workshops around the notions of "activism", "political awareness", "respect", "peace" and boundaries.

Some figures:

32 young participants aged: from 13 to 18 years from 3 cities (Moss, Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad)

1 Minister of Environment: Mr Baard Vegar Sohljell

1 Mayor (Moss): Tage Petersen

8 workshops

2 plenum speechs

16 Trainers from 9 countries (USA, Turkey, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Afghanistan, Serbia, Russia, Norway)

We have also received the support from Play for Peace a global non-profit organisation based in Guatemala. Play for Peace’s mission is to bring together children, youth and organizations from communities in conflict, using cooperative play to create laughter, compassion and peace. Play for Peace has organizations throughout the world including Israel, Vietnam, the US and so on.Play for Peace has sent us their board member John Guarrine, who has had a major role in the process, lighting up the seminar with his long experience. We have also had a contact with Play for peace in India where a whole school in Bangalore has  connected with us on the second day – playing games, sharing information, dancing and putting up a virtual choir with the young Norwegians.

And to finish these very energetic two days, we have organized a street party where different fun activities have been arranged: food from Angola, free ice cream for all, storytelling for the children, music of course, a lot of dance, and we got the exclusivity of a street video-game, called Johan Sebastian Joust …
