There are plenty organizations developing peace projects and many of them address children from schools and youth, with absolutely valuable and benefiting results. Still, the work done with the very young children (before 6 years of age) is a difficult task and too little is done efficiently in this field.

Basing our work on the principles of respect, acceptance, empathy, and creativity, and with the help of the right partners, BFV believes that a peace project for kindergarten is something important, that it can lead to a better start in life and that conflict transformation skills can be part of a pedagogical programme.

Objectives:

Fredsbarna aims to:

-Give the children the opportunity to work with difficult concepts such as peace and conflict resolution in a light and fun way

-Develop the competence of the pedagogues on conflict transformation, peace-building and a culture of peace

-Strengthen the role and participation of the parents including them in the peace-work of their children

-Share awareness that practicing a conflict hygiene is an essential step into the prevention of aggression and damaging behaviors.

-Create the necessary conditions for an early development of peace education, knowledge and skills.

-Provide with easy sets of tools (basic daily exercises/learning by doing principles, playshops...)

-Propose very practical methods that can be used and passed on.

-Promote the importance of healthy attitudes even in very early ages.

-Organize actions/events that are able to build a more sustainable/different work for peace in the future.

-Build bridges between different organizations/projects working in the field of peace.
